The Story of the Wine
OH Wine Teran is a premium dry red wine, made from 100% Teran grapes from our own vineyards. As one of the most distinctive indigenous Istrian varieties, Teran offers a unique combination of power, freshness, and rich fruity aromas. This wine embodies the character of Istria – the untamed energy of nature and centuries-old winemaking traditions.
Vineyard and Harvest
The vineyard is located on rolling hills at an altitude between 140 and 180 meters, with a northwestern exposure. The mineral-rich Istrian red soil allows for a naturally limited yield, resulting in a high concentration of color, tannins, and aromas.
The harvest followed a warm spring and a dry, sunny summer, with an optimal rainfall distribution that ensured even grape ripening. Before the harvest, a “green harvest” was conducted to reduce the yield to a maximum of 2 kg per vine, ensuring top quality. Hand-harvesting of carefully selected grape clusters allowed the creation of a deeply colored wine with a pronounced character.
Vinification and Aging
After harvesting, the grapes were carefully transported to the cellar, where the berries were separated from the stems. This was followed by maceration to achieve optimal color and phenolic compound extraction. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation took place simultaneously at a controlled temperature of 23-25°C, after which the wine was racked and aged on fine lees in stainless steel tanks for two months with occasional stirring. Before release, the wine was further aged in bottles for an additional two months.
Taste and Pairing Recommendations
OH Wine Teran enchants with its ruby-red hue and intense aromas, featuring notes of wild berries, beetroot, and spicy undertones. On the palate, it is full-bodied and well-rounded, with a distinctively elegant finish.
Best served at a temperature of 18-20°C, it pairs excellently with rich meat dishes, game, truffle pasta, prosciutto, and traditional Istrian specialties.
